From Katie : )

Hello everyone!

We are finally here and recovered for the most part from the jet lag of a 20 hour plus plane flight. We were welcomed by the Thai Christians here (who seem to smile without ceasing) and have been acquainting ourselves with the church and the small part of Bangkok that will become our home for the weeks to come. Saturday night was the first night we got to meet our English students at a small orientation. We have about 40 students right now, but we are assured by past experience that the numbers will grow a little as our popularity spreads and our students bring their friends! Our lessons will actually begin next Wednesday, but before that we have English Camp on May 26, 27, and 28 on Cha-am Beach away from the city life. I am looking forward to getting to have fun with our students and the Christians we have met here so far! So a highlight of the past few days has definitely been getting to worship with the church family here. The service on Sunday was all in Thai, and a lady from the church translated into English for the five of us as well as the three other interns here from Tennessee-- you just have to remember to put the headphones on! Hearing familiar songs in Thai was delightful, and it's good to know that God can understand all languages!

Thank you for your support and prayers as our first week in Bangkok is underway, and it is exciting to be a part of God's work here in this city.

Love to all!

Katie

2 - I finally found the blog!! It was good to see pictures of you smiling and doing well. Sounds like you have a good team and are staying busy. God is universal and loves all people. I'm glad you are among loving Christians and hope that the lessons are going well for all the students. Is Kate there? Mrs. Maikell wanted to know. She sent some help for both of you. Lots of people have asked how you are doing. I hope you hear from many of them soon.

Love

3 - Katie,
It sounds like you and the crew are having a wonderful experience. I am sure that getting to participate in a Thai worship is an encouragement to all. The singing is the part that I would love to hear. We are anticipating more stories about your english classes, and their progress. Take care of yourself and have plenty of fun.
Love, Bill
